Andre Winner vs. Anthony Njokuani (lightweight)
Round 1: Winner opening aggressive, and light on his feet. Anthony snaps a low kick. A brief wild exchange where both fighters land. Ripping body shot to the live of Winner, from Anthony. Both fighters look like carbon copies of each other. Winner throws a looping hook that misses, and Anthony counters with a straight right to the jaw. Brief clinch by Anthony as he lands a brutal knee to the body of Winner. Popping jabs from Winner as both fighters look amazingly comfortable in the cage. Left/right combo from Winner. Another counter straight right from Anthony scores. Spinning back elbow from Anthony that just misses. Counter uppercut from Anthony as Winner gets caught coming in too wild. Both fighters exchange jabs as neither is taking control of this round. Huge counter fight hook from Anthony followed by a knee. Huge barrage of strikes from Anthony! I have no clue how Winner is still standing. Winner is against the cage taking punches and knees galore from Anthony. This is absolutely brutal . Dr. Adam Persky, who is next to me, who made Winner’s mouth guard, makes sure to point out that surely, it was the reason he was able to stay in the fight. Who am I to argue? I’m no doctor…. Round 2: Somehow Winner opens the round, looking to put some pressure on Anthony. It’s amazing Winner didn’t get KO’d in the last round, I’m still in shock. Low kick from Anthony backs Winner up. Looping left hook from Anthony misses wildly as Winner counters. Anthony with another combo of brutal strikes coming off a right hook. Winner clinches and manages to not get knocked out, once again. What a display of striking from Anthony Njokuani. The referee breaks the fighters from the clinch and they are back to the center of the cage. Left hook from Winner connects. Njokuani wings a head kick that barely misses Winner, that very well could have ended the fight. Winner taking better angles now, and seems to be gathering himself now. Njokuani snapping off high kicks and jabs that all miss, but look great none the less. The round ends, MMAWeekly.com scores round two 10-9 Njokuani.
Round 3: Winner opens with more pressure and Njokuani seems to be backing off a bit. Njokuani stalking Winner now, as Winner snaps a low kick to try and back him off. Njokuani with a three-punch combo, followed by a grazing head kick. Leg kick from Njokuani once again sets the pace as we enter the final three minutes. Counter uppercut from Njokuani lands as Winner lunges in. Lead left hook from Njokuani lands with a thud. The fighters clinch and Winner rips some shots to the body of Njokuani, as Njokuani lands a few elbows of his own. They separate and Njokuani pops his jab out and follows with a leg kick–he has to know he is up on the cards at this point, no reason to take unnecessary risks.
