UFC 132: Cruz vs. Faber Media Conference Call Audio: Cruz, Faber, Wanderlei, and Leben

Posted on by MMAWeekly.com Staff

UFC 132: Cruz vs. Faber marks the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s third event in Las Vegas in little more than a month.

UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz has ruled the 135-pound weight class since making the drop down from featherweight. He made that move shortly after losing his bid to wrest the WEC featherweight championship from Urijah Faber four years ago. Cruz hasn’t lost a fight since.

Faber went down a bumpy path after that, losing the title to Mike Brown, and failing to regain it. Like Cruz, he also decided to make the trip down to bantamweight, where he has rejuvenated his career, winning back-to-back fights against Takeya Mizugaki and Eddie Wineland. At UFC 132, he will attempt to make it two-for-two against Cruz when the two square off in the main event.

Wanderlei Silva and Chris Leben will duke it out in the evening’s co-main event.

The UFC held a media conference call with Cruz, Faber, Silva, and Leben fielding questions from members of the media on Tuesday.

I really hope Faber takes out Dominique decisively with a KO and gets the belt. We need Urijah to be champion, it would do leaps and bounds for the bantamweight division and UFC in general. As well as if Pettis or BJ Penn got the lightweight title. Edgar and Maynard battle is getting old, no one is interested in either fighter anymore. We are starting to see that the older UFC guys are content with just getting the W and the new school is knocking guys out brutally and getting back to the era where they stand and bang regardless of the outcome. It’s a fight and we need to get back to our roots and FIGHT. That’s why I want Urijah to win, he’s always fighting with so much heart.

Cruz is one of the most technical strikers in all of mma. That said, Faber is one of the hardest guys to put away and also highly skilled. On top of all this its a rematch and the champ is not about to lose twice to this guy and lose his title all in one evening, or is he!!! What a great fight this is going to be.
