Dustin Poirier vs. Jason Young
Round 1: Poirier and Young start out aggressive with kicks and punches. The two clinch and Poirier gets the takedown. The fight returns to the feet and the two exchange knees in the clinch. Poirier lets his hands go as the two separate, scoring some points. Young throws a nice jumping double roundhouse. The two begin to try and throw some homerun punches, but they don’t land. Poirier lands an inside legkick and Young immediately throws a headlock. The round ends with both fighters getting in some leg kicks. Solid round for both fighters.
Round 2: Lowkicks are still being thrown by both fighters. Young throws another double roundkick. Young tries a Thai clinch, but Poirier just throws him off. Young eats a low blow and Poirier gets a warning from the referee. Young is starting to land some more inside legkicks and it’s starting to show on Poirier. Young now landing some punches off countering Poirier’s offense. Blood coming down Young’s face. The fighter’s have a flurry in the stand-up, but Poirier gets him down and it goes into the end of the round.
Round 3: The final round begins with both fighters trading shots on the feet. A glob of vaseline has to be wiped off Young’s face. The fight continues and Poirier gets the bodylock against the cage. Young brings up his opponent, but Poirier continues to work to get his opponent down. Poirier finally gets the takedown, but Young is able to get back up quickly. The two continue to stand and get down before Poirier gets a takedown into his opponent’s guard. The round ends with Poirier in halfguard.
