The UFC invaded Vancouver on Saturday night and delivered some hard-hitting action with UFC 131: dos Santos vs. Carwin. With Junior dos Santos defeating Shane Carwin in the main event by decision, other performers of the evening scored bonuses that netted $70,000 each.

Chris Weidman went through an entire round before locking on a standing guillotine choke on Jesse Bongfeldt in the final seconds of the opening five-minute period. Despite injuring his meniscus during the bout, Weidman was able to lock on the submission and earn the “Submission of the Night” bonus for his efforts.

Sam Stout showed he still has some power and earned himself the “Knockout of the Night” bonus for his devastating knockout win over Yves Edwards. The Canadian fighter proved he had “hands of stone,” throwing a massive left hand that sent Edwards crashing backwards. Edwards hit his head on the floor when he landed and laid there for several minutes after the fact. The bonus was Stout’s sixth earned bonus in the UFC since first fighting for the organization in 2006.

“Fight of the Night” went to a couple of heavyweights in Dave Herman and Jon-Olav Einemo for their efforts at UFC 131. Herman came out as the victor in his first UFC fight and spoiled the debut of the Golden Glory fighter, Einemo. Both fighters showed a lot of heart and, clearly, got the notice of UFC brass.
