The UFC Prelims on Spike TV has gathered a fairly consistent audience over the years since its inception with UFC 103. The TV ratings that UFC 130 on Saturday night pulled in for the network were in line with the series average.
The UFC 130 Prelims drew an average audience of 1.3 million viewers, which is just slightly below the average of 1.44 million. It peaked at 1.499 million viewers in the final quarter hour.
That was still good enough to land Spike in the number one spot among basic cable operators in the key Men 18-49 advertiser demographic.
The telecast featured fights between middleweights Tim Boetsch and Kendall Grove and bantamweights Demetrious Johnson and Miguel Torres. Boetsch made his 185-pound debut, dominating Grove en route to a unanimous decision. Johnson and Torres had a strong back-and-forth battle with Johnson earning the judges’ nod.
The series reached its peak with a preliminary telecast for UFC 126, which averaged 2.0 million viewers.
