Tim Boetsch vs. Kendall Grove
Round 1: Boetsch grabs a single leg shortly after the fight starts and works to get Grove down to the ground. He gets to halfguard before he lands some shots and the two return to the feet. After a short clinch, Boetsch gets his opponent down again and works to sneak in punches from halfguard. After transitioning to fullguard, Grove attempts a triangle and Boetsch escapes to his feet. Grove asks to stand and he gets back to the feet. The two scramble into a clinch and remain there for an extended amount of time into the final minute of the round. The trade knees and footsteps before the round ends.
Round 2: A nice right hand by Boetsch is the first strong strike of the second round. The two clinch against the cage with Grove pressing the action. Boetsch gets a nice trip, putting Grove on his back and landing in sidemount. Boetsch does some work to get in some strikes from there, but Grove gets back to the feet. Another takedown puts Grove right back on the canvas with Boetsch in sidemount again. The two roll to where Grove gets back to his feet. From there, Boetsch lands a couple knees. Later, Boetsch executes a double-leg takedown. The fight returns to the feet for the final 15 seconds of the second.
Round 3: Boetsch opens up by shooting for a single-leg takedown, but Grove defends it. After a clinch against the cage, Boetsch gets a nice hip-toss, getting his opponent to the ground. After some knees by Boetsch, the two return to the feet where Boetsch gets another takedown. Another return to the feet has Boetsch going back to the takedown, and Grove looks too tired to defend them at this point in the fight. Boetsch lands some shots while on the ground. After returning to the feet again, Grove goes for a takedown, but Boetsch muscles his way to top-position before the round ends.
