UFC 130 Play-by-Play: Miguel Torres vs. Demetrious Johnson

Round 1: Johnson opens with a couple right lowkicks.  A clinch then a knee by Torres leads to a Johnson takedown.  Torres reverses it and lands in halfguard.  Torres works to improve his position.  Johnson does his best to defend and lands some elbows from his back.  Torres gets sidecontrol, but Johnson reverses and gets control of his opponent.  Johnson and Torres scramble on the ground until the end of the opening round.

Round 2: Johnson still very quick on his feet to open the second round.  He pushes the action and rushes on Torres to get the takedown.  A scramble on the ground returns the fight to the feet for a brief moment before coming back down.  Lots of back and forth scrambling on the ground with these fighters, trading dominant positions.  Johnson now in Torres’ guard for a long time without advancing in position before scrambling into sidecontrol.  The two stay in that position for the remainder of the round.

Round 3: A strong combination by Johnson leads into a takedown where Torres defends.  Torres looks like he might be going for a triangle, but Johnson escapes.  More scrambling leads to Johnson taking Torres’ back before they roll back into Torres’ guard.  Torres reverses position and ends up mounting Johnson.  Position now goes into Johnson’s guard where Torres begins to advance, but the two scramble to the feet for an exciting flurry by Johnson.  The round ends after Johnson takes Torres down.
