Round 1: Nelson bulls his way into Mir’s range and throws a flurry before the two clinch against the fence. The two split up after Mir lands a knee. Nelson eating a lot of shots on the feet, but takes them in with no backing up before clinching on the fence again. Mir lands more and more knees in the clinch and Nelson keeps taking them without dropping. Nelson gets out of the clinch and starts throwing heavy hands. After a brief clinch, Mir executes gets a picture perfect hippos, but Nelson gets back to the feet a short while later. The round ends with the two in the clinch.
Round 2: Nice overhand right by Nelson to Mir’s chin to open the round. Mir snags the single-leg takedown and puts Nelson on his back. Mir transitions to get his back, but Nelson is able to get back to the feet and in the clinch. Another takedown by Mir, this time with the double-leg. Back to the feet now the two separate with Mir landing yet another knee. Nelson seems unfazed and throws a good right hand that finds it’s destination. The round ends after a clinch against the cage and both fighters look winded.
Round 3: Shortly after the round starts, Mir gets in another knee from a brief clinch. A low kick and knee combo by Mir leads into the two clinching against the fence where Mir gets the double-leg takedown. Mir now works from halfguard and gets in a few shots, but Nelson forces the fight back to the feet again. Mir employs the same strategy and locks in the double-leg to get the fight down again. Back on the feet, Mir gets another takedown and Nelson is looks too tired to defend it. While on the ground, Mir gets in some clean shots, scoring some points. With 20 seconds left, Nelson gets back to the feet and the fight goes to the judges with the two clinched against the fence.
