Although he’s been on the sidelines for just under a year, most people are overlooking the fact that UFC light heavyweight champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua is coming off of a knee injury for his UFC 128 bout with Jon “Bones” Jones.
Of course, that’s largely due to all the attention being heaped on Jones, the young phenom coming in to challenge Shogun for the belt. Jones is even the odds-on favorite in the fight.
Shogun, however, says that his knee is 100-percent healed, he’s been training on it at full strength for several months, and he’s ready for the challenge that Jones brings.
Check out Shogun’s comments from the recent open workout session with the media as the hours wind down to the UFC 128: Shogun vs. Jones main event.
