Nick Catone vs. Constantinos Philippou

Nick Catone has top position against Constantinos Philippou at UFC 128

Round 1: Little action to begin the fight and the crowd is already restless. Catone shoots for a takedown and ends up in the clinch against the cage. Phillippou is able to reverse and switch off the cage and they separate. Catone goes for another takedown and gets cracked with a solid punch, but returns fire catching Phillippou. Another quick exchange and it appears Catone caught a finger to the eye, but the action continues and Catone gets a takeodwn and looks to drop punches and elbows.

Round 2: Phillippou looks for big shots as the round opens, but Catone pushes forward and gets the clinch against the cage. Both fighters throwing heavy leather and this time it appears Phillippou may have caught a finger to the eye, but again the fight continues. Phillippou swings over Catone’s head and Catone pushes forward, getting the clinch, looking for the takedown. Catone is able to force the fight to the mat, working from Phillippou’s half guard. Catone looks for the mount for a moment while slipping through a few punches before the round ends.

Round 3: Phillippou rushes forward with strikes, but Catone takes advantage and gets the fight to the ground. Again working from within half guard, Catone trying to dole out some punishment against the cage. Catone continuously moving looking to improve his position, throwing punches all the while. Catone is able to get the mount and looks to reign down shots. Phillippou is able to get back to half guard but he’s still locked underneath Catone who is in complete control.
