Ryan Bader vs. Jon Jones
Round 1: Bader starts swinging right away, but not landing on his initial attempts. Jones shoots, but Bader goes for a guillotine choke. Jones moves to side control, quickly escaping the choke. Jones goes to north-south and strikes with his chin into Bader’s midsection. He locks up Bader in a sort of reverse head and arm choke, but doesn’t get the submission, moving back to side control. Bader escapes and they return to their feet. Jones goes high, landing a head kick. Bader shoots in reaction, but Jones sprawls out, ending up in half guard, punching Bader in the ribs. They scramble and Jones ends up in another half guard/half mount position, lands a couple punches to the midsection and then starts dropping forearms on Bader to head and body. Jones drives a couple elbows and punches into Bader’s ribs just before the bell. MMAWeekly.com scores round one 10-9 for Jones.
Round 2: Jones comes out with a nasty jab. Bader looks a little unsure what to do now. Jones jumps and lands a grazing head kick. Bader moves in, trying to rush Jones with punches, but Jones deftly avoids the punches. Jones scores with a one-two punch combination followed by a low kick. Jones starts chopping away at Bader’s lead leg. Bader moves in but they end up on the mat, Jones with an awkward looking front choke, then switching to a guillotine for the submission.
