Round 1: Kelly cracks Cerrone right away, but Cerrone shoots and takes him down, getting caught in a guillotine attempt on the way. Cerrone moves out to side control to alleviate the pressure and escapes the choke. He moves to full mount, but Kelly does a good job bucking him off and returning to the feet. Kelly fakes a superman punch and lands a hard left hook. Cerrone catches Kelly with a knee to the midsection and follows with a punch combination. Kelly waves Cerrone in, but he doesn’t take the bait, instead landing a couple low kicks. Solid kick to the ribs followed by a punch combo from Cerrone. Kelly is holding his own on the feet, landing solid combos and cracks Cerrone with a big right hand. Kelly throws a right hand, but Cerrone times it and scores another takedown, landing in half guard. Kelly ties up Cerrone’s arms, but Cerrone lands a couple knees to the ribs from a half guard/half mount position then follows with some heavy forearms to the face, cutting Kelly open. Strong finish to the round for Cerrone. MMAWeekly.com scores round one 10-9 for Cerrone.
Round 2: Kelly uses the superman fake again to land a solid combination and adds some hard one-punch shots in his follow up. Cerrone starts working in the low kicks and follows with a right hand, but Kelly is starting to use his own kicks now, setting up his jab. Cerrone gets his own jab going as well and is cracking Kelly’s lead leg with the right low kick. He then times the shot for another takedown, quickly taking half guard position. Cerrone moves to full mount, dropping down an elbow and a couple punches that get the blood flowing around Kelly’s right eye again. Kelly tries to escape, but Cerrone takes his back, locks on the body triangle and peppers him with punches. Cerrone locks on the rear naked choke and that’s all she wrote, Kelly taps out.
