UFC 125: Resolution takes place Saturday night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, where UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar looks to make the second defense of his belt against Gray Maynard.
Weighing in at 155 pounds, Edgar has a little something extra to prove on Saturday night, considering that Maynard is the only man to ever defeat him in his professional career as a fighter.
Maynard, who also weighed in spot-on at 155 pounds, has something to prove as well, that the his unanimous decision win over Edgar was no fluke and that he deserves to have the UFC lightweight belt wrapped around his waist.
Neither fighter minced words after they stepped of the scale.
“It’s gonna go down, I’m gonna get the win,” said Maynard.
Edgar echoed his sentiments, “I’m gonna walk away with a win. Gonna start the New Year off fight.”
The two clash in the UFC 125 main event, while middleweights Chris Leben and Brian Stann, both weighing in at 186 pounds, face off in the co-main event.
