Round 1: Davis opens with peppering jabs trying to keep Stephens at bay. Stephens has his right hand cocked and is looking to unleash it at any moment. More jabs from Davis followed by a left hook land on Stephens’ cheek. Outside leg kick by Stephens sends a ‘snap’ through the arena and backs Davis up. The fighters come together in a clinch against the cage and Davis earns a very nice trip take down. Now in half-guard, Davis is looking to pass but Stephens is doing a great job stopping any advancement. The fighters scramble back to their feet and Stephens lands a nice jab on Davis. A right hook by Davis wobbles Stephens and he briefly is in trouble. Stephens survives and the round ends. 10-9 Davis.
Round 2: Stephens rushes in to start the round and eats a solid straight right from Davis. Davis is doing a superb job at keeping distance, as well as making Stephens guess as to what he is going to do next. A very good fight thus far for Marcus Davis. Stephens starts to pressure more and look for a big shot but once again, Davis is doing a great job at keeping his range. Stephens rushes in for the take down but Davis sprawls and both fighters now clinch against the cage. Davis grabs a single leg and whips Stephens to the ground. In the action Stephens grabs a Kimura on the way to the ground and is looking for the submission. Davis is trying to step over and get out of half-guard, but Stephens is controlling. Davis is ripping shots to the body, trying to losen the grip Stephens has. Stephens escapes and is now in Davis’ guard landing disruptive hammer fist’s and elbows. The round ends, 10-9 Davis.
Round 3: Between rounds Stephens’ corner is very adamant about him needing to finish the fight, let’s see if he listens. Stephens comes out aggressive but eats two big counter punches by Davis as he rushes in. Inside leg kick by Davis stuns Stephens. In a flurry Stephens lands a thudding left hook, that to be honest, was probably the best punch of the fight for him. More peppering shots from Davis keep Stephens’ aggression to a minimum. Out of absolutely nowhere Jeremy Stephens lands an absolute brutal right hook that knocks Davis out cold! What a punch! What a comeback by Stephens. Wow.
