Staff Following the first ever UFC event in the state, the Indiana Gaming Commission has released the medical suspensions for the show. They include an indefinite suspension for main event fighter Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic following his knockout loss to former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir.
After a fairly slow moving fight for the first two rounds, Cro Cop got into an exchange with Mir in the final round and ate a devastating knee strike that floored the former Pride Grand Prix champion, leaving him unconscious on the mat.
Former UFC welterweight champion Matt Serra went through a tough three-round fight with Chris Lytle and also received an indefinite suspension.
Cro Cop and Serra’s suspensions run a minimum of 180 days. Each must have a head CT scan cleared by a physician before they can return to fighting, even once the 180 days is up.
