As the UFC makes their first appearance in Vancouver, the fighters for the event on Saturday night weighed in and outside of the towel being pulled out a few times to allow fighters to drop an extra pound, everybody made weight with no issues.
The night’s main event of course pits two former champions against each other as Chuck Liddell faces Rich Franklin. Liddell came to the weigh-ins showing off his new physique, and put all the retirement talk aside and is excited to be back after more than a year off.
“I’m excited to be back, I can’t wait to be back in the ring, and back in front of everybody fighting,” said Liddell.
After a successful career at middleweight, Rich Franklin is now putting some of those pounds back on to fight at 205lbs, and said the only motivation he needs for this fight is knowing who his opponent will be on Saturday night.
“It’s Chuck Liddell, that’s all you have to say,” Franklin stated. “Two words: Chuck Liddell.”
The rest of the weigh-ins went off without a hitch, and could go down as one of the friendliest series of staredowns in UFC history. Only Dutch striker Gilbert Yvel and his opponent Ben Rothwell seem to put to put on their “mean” faces when squaring off after weighing in.
