UFC 111 is now official for March 27 at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., officials confirmed Friday.
At a UFC Fight Club Q & A for welterweight contender Dan Hardy, who is set to vie for the title against Georges St-Pierre, UFC matchmaker Joe Silva informed announcer Mike Goldberg of the official date and location.
MMAWeekly originally reported March 13 as the date of the potential event.
The promotion has not been to the Garden State since November 2007, when “Ultimate Fighter” winners Rashad Evans and Michael Bisping faced off in the same venue.
No other match-ups have been confirmed for the event.
Hardy, confident as ever, told fans he was a different breed of opponent than St-Pierre had faced before.
“GSP is aware that if I hit him, he’s going to sleep,” the Nottingham native said.
