In a short period of time, the team known as the Blackzilians have put together one of the most well known and well regarded squads in all of MMA.

Generally speaking, whenever anyone talks to Rashad Evans, Melvin Guillard, JZ Cavalcante, or any of the other Blackzilian fighters about their striking, one name comes up almost every single time.

Tyrone Spong.

The former K-1 standout, who has considered a move into MMA, will return to action this weekend at It’s Showtime in Holland against former Strikeforce middleweight Melvin Manhoef.

Spong has been training primarily out of the Blackzilian camp, helping his teammates like Evans get ready for their upcoming bouts, while he readied for a return to kickboxing this weekend.

Ultimately, Spong may still transition to MMA if the right offer comes along.

“I’m just taking one step at a time. I’m very relaxed, I’m here, so I might as well train my ground game a little bit. I like a challenge, so I’m working on that. Basically, I like a challenge. If they give me a good offer, the contract is good, why not? I might as well try it. I’m a fighter, fighting’s my job,” Spong told MMAWeekly.com.

“If the offer is good, I’ll take it.”

For now however, Spong will stick with his first love and face Manhoef at It’s Showtime this weekend, before returning to his home away from home in the United States to rejoin the Blackzilians.
