The fight card for UFC 116, scheduled for July 3 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, is filling up with two more bout additions on Wednesday.
The Ultimate Fighting Championship confirmed two previously rumored bouts: Kurt Pellegrino vs. George Sotiropoulos and Daniel Roberts vs. Julio Paulino.
Pellegrino (15-4) comes into the bout riding a four-fight winning streak, including a second-round submission of Fabricio Camoes at UFC
111 in New Jersey. Sotiropoulos (12-2) won a unanimous decision over Joe Stevenson at UFC 110 in Australia. The victory was Sotiropoulos’ sixth straight.
The two are expected to meet on the pay-per-view portion of UFC 116 with the winner narrowing in on a title shot.
Roberts and Paulino are both coming off of losses. Roberts (9-1) lost for the first time in his professional career when he was knocked out by John Howard at the UFC’s first event on the Versus network in March. Fighting on the same card, Paulino (17-3) lost his Octagon
debut to Mike Pierce via unanimous decision.
A heavyweight title unification bout between champion Brock Lesnar and interim titleholder Shane Carwin heads the UFC 116 card.
