Social networking has successfully prevailed in making another fight happen.
A Twitter exchange has resulted in Junior Assuncao welcoming former ‘Ultimate Fighter’ winner Ross Pearson to the featherweight division at UFC 141 in December.
The new fight was announced by the UFC on Monday.
Following a very close loss to Edson Barboza Jr., Pearson teased the possibility of dropping to featherweight for his next fight. Just last week the Brit, along with help for UFC light heavyweight Phil Davis, successfully made a test run to 145lbs.
Now he gets his first test in the featherweight division.
Junior Assuncao won in his return fight to the UFC back in September over Eddie Yagin and then went to Twitter to make the challenge for his next fight.
“Let me give Ross Pearson a good welcome to the featherweight division,” Assuncao wrote.
In response, Pearson answered back ‘you may just get what you wish for, see you very soon’.
In short, Assuncao and Pearson made UFC matchmaker Joe Silva’s job pretty easy. The two featherweights will meet in the year end UFC 141 show in Las Vegas on Dec 30.
