TUFF-N-UFF Productions, Inc. late last week announced that it will host the first sanctioned amateur mixed martial arts event in Nevada. The event is scheduled for April 12 at the Tropicana Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
“This has been in the works for a long time and we’re excited to promote the first sanctioned amateur MMA event in Nevada,” said Barry Meyer, president of TUFF-N-UFF. “We’ll now be able to offer amateur MMA fighters an opportunity to compete in a safe environment, at a world class venue, in the fight capital of the world.
“Our goal is to be the equivalent of the golden gloves of MMA by working with quality promoters in other regions, to help the sport grow,” he continued.
“The winners will be invited to compete at the next show, tentatively scheduled for May 23, to crown champions and help us find fighters to debut on our professional shows. We look forward to giving athletes an avenue to demonstrate their skills and have the opportunity to move on to follow their dreams.”
Founded in 1994, TUFF-N-UFF Productions received one of the first mixed martial arts promotional licenses in Nevada. TUFF-N-UFF has promoted Shooto, the first MMA tournament in Nevada, and co-promoted Chuck Norris’ World Combat League, Bodog Fight, and the ADCC North American qualifiers.
