Justin Lawrence vs. John Cofer

They stand up and Lawrence catches Cofer’s kick, putting him on the mat, kicking his thighs before allowing him to stand. Cofer rocks Lawrence with a left hand, but they move back to the center of the Octagon. Cofer is darting in and out, but it is Lawrence that is landing more frequently with his punches. Just as Lawrence starts to get comfortable, Cofer dives in, landing a solid punch combination. Lawrence then lands a couple front kicks and follows with a left hook that rocks Cofer, who then fires back. They trade kicks and punches as the round winds down. Round 2: Cofer opens with a jumping knee, but doesn’t land it. They trade a few punches, but Lawrence appears to be more calm and collected. Cofer is using more of a storming tactic that often leaves him open for Lawrence’s counters. As the round wears on, Lawrence continues to establish his dominance on the feet, landing the more solid shots, while Cofer keeps trying to find an opening, getting in a shot here and there. Lawrence throws a combination and tries to finish with a back kick, but Cofer wraps around his waist and suplexes him to the mat. Lawrence, however, slips out and reverses position into Cofer’s guard to the horn. MMAWeekly.com scores round two 10-9 for Lawrence.
Round 3: Lawrence opens strong with a straight right and two uppercuts, but then finishes the fight with a right high kick to the jaw that puts Cofer down and out… no follow-up necessary.
