Round 1: Oliveira opens up kicking, but Brookins starts to land his lead right hand. They clinch up and trade knees to the body, separate, and then Oliveira lands a hard kick to the body followed by a right cross. Oliveira lands a couple punches then catches Brookins with a knee to the face, but Brookins catches him and puts him on the mat. Oliveira goes after the armbar, but Brookins slips out, standing in Oliveira’s guard. The referee stands them upand they go back to the striking game, Oliveira stalking Brookins, deftly avoiding most of Brookins’ attacks, while landing his own. Oliveira comes over the top with a big right hand that rocks Brookins, who somehow manages to stay conscious. Oliveira times it perfectly and lands a stunning combination of punches that staggers Brookins across the Octagon. Brookins fires back with punch combinations of his own, although not quite with the same fury as Oliveira’s. Oliveira lands a jumping knee just before the end of the round. Round 2: Brookins starts off the round with some good punch combinations, but Oliveira still looks very fluid, unfazed by Brookins’ attacks. Oliveira waits patiently and finds his openings, landing much cleaner punches than Brookins. They clinch up though and Brookins puts on a guillotine choke while standing. Oliveira puts him on the mat, but his head is still caught. Oliveira slips out and stands up in Brookins’ guard, putting on his own modified guillotine, locking it down for the submission.
