On Sunday night, The Ultimate Fighter 21 winner will be crowned when Blackzilians Kamaru Usman faces American Top Team fighter Hayder Hassan in the season’s welterweight final. The night’s main event pits Jake Ellenberger vs. Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson in a five-round welterweight non-title fight.
First, however, all the fighters on the card had to step on the scales during an extremely busy Saturday afternoon for the fight world in Las Vegas.
Neither Ellenberger or Thompson had trouble making weight for the main event, and the TUF 21 finalists also hit the mark without issue.
Unfortunately, two other main card fighters had trouble making weight.
Maximo Blanco, who opens up the main card in a featherweight fight with Mike De La Torre. Blanco was two-and-a-half pounds over the limit, weighing in at 148.5 pounds. He was given one hour to lose the weight or he faces a penalty equal to 20-percent of his fight purse.
Jorge Masvidal, who is moving up to welterweight for this card after tiring of making the lightweight limit, missed the mark by a pound-and-a-half, stepping on the scale at 172.5 pounds. Like Blanco, he was given an hour to make the weight or face a 20-percent fine.
