The 22 fighters competing on The Ultimate Fighter: A Champion Will Be Crowned Finale officially weighed in on Thursday in Las Vegas.
Carla Esparza and Rose Namajunas fought their way through the season-long tournament to become the two women that will meet in the main event on Friday night to crown the inaugural UFC women’s strawweight champion.
Neither finalist had an issue making weight. Each weighed in at 115 pounds even.
“I’m just so excited and I appreciate all the fans for coming out and supporting women’s MMA,” said Esparza, who was the Invicta FC strawweight champion before coming to the UFC.
“This is super exciting,” added Namajunas. “I’m just so glad to be here and honored to have such a great opponent to test my sills against. The title is just the icing on the cake.”
The card is fleshed out with several bouts that include other TUF 20 competitors, while the co-main event features a men’s featherweight tilt between Jeremy Stephens and Charles Oliveira.
Oliveira stepped on the scale at 147 pounds, one full pound over the 146-pound limit for the fight. He was given one hour to make weight.
Aisling Daly was two pounds over the 116-pound limit for her fight with Alex Chambers. She was also given one hour to make weight.
