05-Uriah-Hall-TUF-17-Finale-wThe Ultimate Fighter Season 17 runner-up Uriah Hall is back in action. He’ll square off in a middleweight bout against Nick Ring at UFC on Fox Sports 1: 1 on Aug. 17 in Boston.

UFC officials announced the bout early Friday morning.

Hall (7-3) is the former Ring of Combat middleweight champion, making his way to the UFC via The Ultimate Fighter: Team Jones vs. Team Sonnen. A member of Chael Sonnen’s team, Hall was a heavy favorite going into the show’s finale, but lost a split decision to teammate Kevin Gastelum.

Ring (13-2) made his way to the UFC via an unblemished 10-0 professional record. He continued his winning ways in his first two bouts on the Octagon, but has lost two of his three most recent bouts.

Ring enters the fight with Hall coming off of a split decision loss to Chris Camozzi at UFC 158: St-Pierre vs. Diaz.

The UFC on Fox Sports 1: 1 fight card does not yet have an announced main event.

Fox Sports 1 is the new sports network from Fox that launches on Aug. 17. The UFC is slated to be a cornerstone of the network’s programming.

Should be a good fight. I think Nick Ring doesn’t get the respect he deserves. He’s a pretty good fighter.

Yeah he’s good…and I thought he beat Camozzi.

He probably did, but on the other hand, he probably lost to Court McGee, so he really should be 1-2 in his last 3. But his toughness is definitely something Uriah will have to prepare for.

Good fight! Im so interested in what main event is gonna be???

  • Phael Sonnen

Remember when Chael said that Hall could beat Anderson…… what a delusional a******.

I believe Sonnen said that just to insult Silva and get under his skin. I like Sonnen and respect him as a fighter but he goes out of his way to insult Silva, they already fought twice so it’s getting old now. I liked Hall as a fighter only, even though he lost every big fight he’s had so far but I wanted to give him a chance at TUF FInale but the way he acted in the fight was insane. I like Calvin but he looked horrible in that fight, he will for sure do good at WW I’m positive of it, but I didn’t like Hall acting like he was Anderson Silva. Lost him the fight.

On paper this should be a win for Hall if he fails for a 2nd time then I’ll start thinking this guy was all hype and no content!…just like Sokoudjou

I think Hall has all of the physical attributes and skills necessary to be a champ some day, but has yet to develop the mental toughness needed to successfully compete at the highest level. This is something he openly admitted throughout the show. Handling high levels of pressure is a lot harder to learn than striking or grappling, and some people are never able to master it. Champs do. Yet to be seen if Hall will realize his potential.
