Mike Pyle TUF 16 FinaleThe TUF 16 Finale: Nelson vs. Mitrione fighter salaries were released on Monday by the Nevada Athletic Commission.

Ultimate Fighter coach Roy Nelson flattened Matt Mitrione in the night’s main event, while Colton Smith took the honor of becoming the next Ultimate Fighter. Mitrione was a late replacement for Nelson’s original opponent and fellow TUF coach Shane Carwin.

The following figures are based on the fighter salary information that promoters are required by law to submit to the state athletic commissions, including the winners’ bonuses.

Although mixed martial arts fighters do not have collective bargaining or a union, the fighters’ salaries are still public record, just as with every other major sport in the United States. Any undisclosed bonuses that a promoter also pays its fighters, but does not disclose to the athletic commissions (specifically, pay-per-view bonuses, fight of the night bonuses, etc.), are not included in the figures below.

It should also be noted that Melvin Guillard and Jamie Varner were each paid their show money, although their bout had to be scrapped at the last minute when Varner fell ill in the dressing room area. Guillard was paid $42,000, while Varner collected $12,000.

I think thats a pretty sick disgusting amount of money Mitrione got. Can you picture getting a late notice to fight, knowing you didnt prepare well for the fight to be in the co-main event and then you get knocked out. Thats pretty sad that people will allow their body to be punished in a fight like this for just 12,000$ pathetic. Not to mention the after affects all those hits have on your body once you retire

Pyle is that high because it’s his 10th bout with the UFC. Nearly everyone’s contract goes up as they continue in the organization.

Mitrione is under a TUF contract from when he was on the show and the reason for the pay. That is just his official pay, I have a good feeling he was well compensated in the locker room bonus because of the late notice and everything else.

Why the hell is Roy Nelson only getting $48,000 with 8 fights in the UFC + coming off a reality show?

5 and 3 record, with best guys in the company, in epic form. They’re screwing him

    • Alex Anderson

Yeah, that’s a crazy small pay day for what he does. Maybe if they paid him more he could hire a fitness and endurance coach!

Dana White makes more per UFC card than the fighters. That is an embarrassing payday for Big Country.

  • Timothy Malone

Remove Roy Nelson, and in Brock Lesnar’s final losing effort for the UFC he made more money than the other 21 fighters on this card combined.

    • Mike mckinney

Brock has probably made the UFC more than those other 21 fighters combined. Hell, you could probably even throw Roy in there.
