A $30,000 bonus is a welcome surprise after a hard night at the office.
That’s the amount the post-fight award winners took home from “The Ultimate Fighter Season 12” finale on Saturday night, but it probably didn’t make the difference for one fighter, at least not immediately.
Nam Phan and Leonard Garcia scored the “Fight of the Night” bonus, each taking home an additional $30,000, but Phan was left stinging after the fight. He appeared to take the fight to Garcia for the better part of all three rounds, and fans and media alike seemed to think he easily won the decision… only, he didn’t.
Garcia walked away with a split decision victory, Phan with a sour welcome to the Octagon.

Pablo Garza couldn’t be happier about making the move from the WEC to the UFC. Not only did he get the win over Fredson Paixao, he knocked him out cold with a brutal knee that brought him “Knockout of the Night” honors.
Making his official debut in the Octagon, Cody McKenzie didn’t surprise anyone with his “Submission of the Night” finish.
McKenzie is 12-0 as a professional fighter, and has finished every single opponent he has faced. He added Season 12 housemate Aaron Wilkinson to that list with a guillotine choke, the tenth straight fight that McKenzie has finished with that particular submission.
