A trio of new bouts have been added to UFC 146 including an Ultimate Fighter winner, a Strikeforce import and a highly touted free agent making his Octagon debut.
First up, Ultimate Fighter season 14 winner Diego Brandao makes his first appearance since winning the reality show last December as he faces wrestler Darren Elkins.
Brandao pulled off the miraculous comeback to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat as he beat former housemate Dennis Bermudez to capture the reality show crown. He now faces Darren Elkins, who looks to make it three in a row since dropping to 145lbs last year.
Also added to the UFC 146 card is former Strikeforce heavyweight Shane Del Rosario, who makes his return to action after a car accident in 2011 nearly ended his career.
Del Rosario is still undefeated as a pro fighter and he’ll look to keep that record in tact as he faces former UFC heavyweight contender Gabriel Gonzaga.
After nearly retiring from the sport, Gonzaga returned in January where he made his triumphant return to the UFC with a dominant win over Eduardo Oliveira.
The final fight announced for the May 26 card in Las Vegas features free agent pick-up Glover Teixeira, who has long been rumored to come to the UFC, but finally makes his first appearance.
Teixeira comes to the UFC with an impressive 17-2 record and has been long touted as one of the best prospects not fighting in the Octagon, but now he’s about the change that.
Facing Teixeira in his debut will be former Ultimate Fighter competitor Kyle Kingsbury.
Kingsbury is coming off a loss to Stephan Bonnar at UFC 139, but prior to that defeat he had won four fights in a row inside the Octagon.
