(July 15, 2005 ) – Explosive Travis “Diesel” Wiuff will meet tough Bill”The Truth” Hill for the World Light Heavyweight Championship in the main event at “Rock N’ Rumble” Saturday, July 30 at the Reno Events Center.
Wuiff who hails from Rochester, MN,a town better known for healing than fighting – the world famous Mayo Clinic is headquartered there, has only lost one fight in the last two years. That loss to IFC World Champion Babalu ended a 17 fight winning streak. Originally a heavyweight who fought at 265 lbs, Wiuff now fights at a very large 205 lbs. He has dominated opponents in his two most recent fights and vows to keep his latest win streak intact. Travis is 6’3″. His aggressive and explosive style make him one of the most exciting fighters in extreme fighting today.
Bill ” The Truth” Hill who stands 6’2 and weighs in at 195 lbs is one the more rounded fighters in the sport today. Fast hands and solid ground skills have made him one of the top fighters in the country. He recently upset Pancrease fighting star Daisuke Ishii in an epic battle at IFC Eve of Destruction in Salt Lake City. Bill fights out of Ugin, Illinois on the out skirts of Chicago. He brings a war to every fight and this battle against Travis Wiuff will be no different.
Tuf N’ Uff Productions and Downtown Reno Presents IFC Caged Combat “Rock N’ Rumble” Saturday, July 30 at the Reno Events Center where the best fighters in the world will be meeting in the IFC thirty foot steel cage for a one night party of pure action both in the cage and out. It’s just about anything goes – punching, kicking, throwing, choking, arm bars, ankle locks – it’s all happening here. You’ve seen these guys fight for the money on PPV, now catch the action live at the Reno Events Center in Downtown Reno.
Presented by Circus Circus Reno, Eldorado Hotel Casino, Harrah’s Reno, and Silver Legacy Resort Casino the event will feature nine fights including four championship fights plus some serious rock by the very hot breakout group Redcel. Other familiar names fighting in the cage will be Tony Fryklund, Randy Spence, Brett Bergmark, Rocky Batastini, “Jazz” Rivenbark, Richard Montoya, Tim McKensie and Spencer Fisher. Outside the ring will be a host of special guests and celebrities including Playboy Model and Howard Stern favorite Heidi Cortez as well as the Star of NBC’s “The Contender” series, Reno’s own Joey Gilbert.
IFC fighters come from many backgrounds; they are respected as some of the best athletes in the world. Most use a combination of boxing, wrestling, open hand combat and martial arts fighting techniques in the ring. Bouts can be won by knockout, submission or by the scorecard.
There are three five-minute rounds in a non-championship bout and five five-minute rounds in a championship bout. Known for their extreme, no holds barred fighting in the 30-foot steel cage IFC fighters will do anything necessary to win. The event is sanctioned by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.
