Fabricio Werdum solidified his place as the top contender in the UFC’s heavyweight division by soundly defeating Travis Browne by unanimous decision at UFC on FOX 11 on Saturday.

Browne looked good early, but quickly faded. On Sunday, Browne’s coach, Ricky Lundell, revealed that the Hawaiian suffered a broken hand and rib in the opening round of the fight.

Lundell posted an x-ray of Browne’s right hand and an update on Browne’s post-fight medical status.

I like Browne and wanted him to win…..but he gassed.

  • Light Man

    Something is very fishy here.
This Landell guy puts some photos of X-Ray without proving that it’s Browne’s – while not a word of it in the OFFICIAL medical documents:

“Travis Browne: 90 days suspension, broken nose, cut over right eye”

C’mon, Weekly, bloodyelbow written it like it is.
Grow a pair and admit that this Landell guy’s pics are fake.

  • WhereIsHomefront2?

Not one complaint. Just lots of unsportsmanlike excuses from his team.

    • Mike Oxafloppin

While I agree there should be a Homefront 2, THQ went bankrupt and I haven’t heard anything about another company picking the title up.

        Crytek has the IP rights.

Trowing crazy punches sometimes leads to broken hands.. Brown only has himself to blame for that.

    Where is the broken rib?

  • TheCerealKiller

I’m not excepting this as an excuse, but I knew something was wrong with him.

    • GeorgeSperry

Could you possibly mean you are accepting…

      • TheCerealKiller

        Yes, thank you grammar nazi.

        • shakejunt

grammar matters, especially on the internet

what is that tape deck doing next to the taj mahal?

  • Mark McDowall

So Browne isn’t making excuses…but his trainer is listing each thing in order of occurrence that caused him to not win the fight…and there’s no proof that xray is really his. If he had a broken hand and a broken rib I’m guessing his suspension will be pretty extensive….

  • Mr. Pena

How is it that each time Browne loses, there is always some excuse, which is to blame for the loss? The guy is complaining about his luck but forgets e.g. one of the luckiest kicks of his which dropped Overeem after he got beat up by him to a stoppage point. And saved by the bell also in this fight! Suck it up already, man.

    • earlsimmons

I dont see who is making excuses for his loss. I see a pic of a broken hand and rib. You are the one assuming that he posted these pics as an excuse to why browne lost. So no fighter can ever post or talk about injuries during the fight or its automatically making excuses? You sir are an idiot.

      • Light Man

Everyone sees a pic of a broken hand and rib, however, no proof that this pic is somehow related to Browne.
On the other hand, we have OFFICIAL MEDICAL SUSPENSIONS from the event, where the ONLY thing written about Browne was a broken nose (and we all saw that it happen in the later rounds).

Not only those are excuses, they are also fake.

        • earlsimmons

HA yes it is Brownes responsibility to prove to all you bro’s on an mma forum that they are really his photos. Give me a break, more than half of you prbably watch nbc and believe all the lies they tell without any evidence. Grow up little boy.

          • Light Man

So NBC lie to us, official post-fight medical diagnostics lie to us. Only the completely biased loudmouth trainer of Browne’s tells the truth with shady and unproven pics, that contradict the official version.
Browne doesn’t owe anything to anyone, but his trainer has been exposed as a liar.

      • F.O.A.D

Yes, intelligent people play the idiot card and similar things…. The point was, there always seems to be some “reason” other than Browne himself for the loss. Also, if he breaks his hand, it is probably due to bad technique and the rib is of course to Werdum’s credit. Go home and cry.

        • earlsimmons

OK once I read “it is probably due to bad technique” I know you have never boxed before in your life so anything you say is just crap because your just like al iberal saying things you have no idea about. And why would I cry? I dont even watch mma anymore I just like to read the garbage all you bro’s on an mma forum post thinking you know what your talking about.

Great. The whole meme subculture is being used to propagate fighter heart now.

Werdum was underrated and Brown overrated. He landed a few lucky blows and / or monopolized on the sheer stupidity of his opponents to get to the top (looking at you Reem and Barnett). He got there, so credit where it’s do, but I’m not sure how long he’ll hang there for.

Werdum on the other hand, is one dangerous hombre. His wins of late have been sheer ownage for the most part. Tough fight for Cain because of how dangerous he is in the ground game. Will neutralize the ground and pound IMHO. Cain will probably muscle him against the cage and tie him up there with some dirty boxing for 5 rounds. The occasional take down thrown in to seal the deal … but he’ll pop right back up. Not sure he would (or should) brave any ground and pound with Werdum.

I call Cain by decision. If Werdum is going to win this, it would have to be by submission as I don’t see him controlling the fight at all against Cain in any other venue. He can bang with Cain, but Cain will undoubtedly tie him up again, and again, and again …

But then, we all know much better than to write Werdum out now don’t we? Least we damn well should.
