FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 29th AT THE BELL CENTRE TKO PROMISES HUGE FIREWORKS IN THE OCTAGON!

(MONTREAL, CANADA), August 11th, 2006 – TKO Major League MMA is thrilled to present the greatest event in Canadian MMA history, TKO 27: REINCARNATION! The event has been appropriately named “Reincarnation” because it is an event of many important firsts for the TKO organization. Firstly, TKO has done away with the traditional square boxing ring and will
instead feature the debut of the octagonal fighting area! There will be nowhere to run and nowhere to hide as this magnificent piece of equipment ensures continuous, fast-paced, MMA action! Next, it will be TKO’s first event at the most prestigious venue in North America, the Bell Centre! This deal has been a long time coming and it will allow TKO to achieve the things that their fans have always dreamed of. Finally, it will mark the long awaited encounter between the nation’s two greatest featherweight fighters, Mark Hominick and Ivan Menjivar!

In the main event, the greatest Champion in TKO history, MARK “THE MACHINE” HOMINICK (11-5-0) will square off against the number four ranked Featherweight fighter in the world, IVAN “THE PRIDE OF EL SALVADOR” MENJIVAR (20-5-0). This is the fight that Canadian MMA fans have long been waiting for! Hominick and Menjivar are undoubtedly the two best
featherweight fighters in Canada. They have dominated their Canadian competition and they have also beaten some of the best fighters in the Ultimate Fighting Championship and in K-1. It’s now time for them to face off and finally decide who the best in the country is. Will Hominick’s quick hands and flawless technique be too much for Menjivar to handle? Or, will Menjivar’s well rounded skills and exceptional ground game prove to be the difference? The whole world is waiting to see what will happen!

In the co-main event, TKO World Lightweight Champion, SAM “HANDS OF STONE” STOUT (9-2-1) will return to defend his belt against an opponent to be announced shortly. Stout is a top contender in the UFC’s Lightweight Division. He is undoubtedly one of the best strikers and most exciting young prospects in all of MMA. He’s won Canadian Kick-Boxing Championships and has a remarkable kick-boxing record which includes a victory in K-1, the best kick-boxing organization in the world. He’s given Canadian fans some of the most memorable moments in TKO history and on September 29th, 2006 he plans on making more memories when he returns to defend his belt!

The World Heavyweight Championship is also on the line at TKO 27 as the reigning Canadian Champion; ICHO LARENAS (3-2-0) will defend his title against KRYSZTOF SOSZYNSKI (8-5-1). These two behemoths never fail to put on a great show for the fans. The judges might as well go for coffee during this fight, because one of these undaunting warriors will likely end this fight suddenly and violently! Larenas became TKO Champion when he overwhelmed Jacob Conliffe with a vicious ground and pound assault back at TKO 20. Soszynski is coming off an impressive victory over Yan Pellerin at TKO 26 and is seeking the recognition he feels is long overdue. Only one man will walk out of the octagon as Heavyweight Champion!

In a Welterweight Superfight, rising Team Tompkins’ phenom, CHRIS CLEMENTS (2-1-0) will go toe-to-toe with former Ontario Muay Thai Champion, IAN MAJOR (0-0-0). For the longest time, students of Team Tompkins have proven to possess the most devastating striking abilities in Canada and perhaps the entire world. Well, there’s a new kid on the block now! Iron Tiger, based in Hamilton, Ontario, is the most highly decorated Muay Thai School in all of Canada! This will be the first of potentially numerous spectacular MMA fights between these two prestigious clubs. Clements has already made a huge splash into TKO’s Welterweight division. In his debut, he scored the fastest knockout in MMA history, in only three seconds! In his most recent fight he annihilated Canada’s former Amateur Kick-Boxing Champion, Martin Grandmont, with strikes! He’s looking to add another notch on his belt. But, Major insists that he is no stepping stone. With exceptional striking skills and good wrestling abilities, he’s going to give Clements all he can handle!

Canada’s brightest young stars, CHRIS HORODECKI (5-0-0) and SAMUEL GUILLET (4-2-0) will battle for supremacy in TKO’s stacked Lightweight Division! Each brings something different with them into the ring. The “Sydney Crosby of MMA”, Horodecki is best known for his striking prowess while Guillet is renowned for his slick submissions. However, both men are far from one-dimensional! Horodecki’s ground game was the key to his last two victories in TKO while Guillet also has two wins that came by way of strikes. A victory in this fight may set up a title shot for the winner while the loser will have to go back to the drawing board. These two young phenoms always fight with unrivaled intensity which guarantees the fans a terrific fight full of fireworks and excitement!

MARTIN DESILETS (5-0-0) will face the toughest test of his career as he clashes with TODD GOUWENBERG (3-2-0). Many believe Desilets is the next big thing coming out of Canada. He is an enormous specimen at 205lbs and he possesses one the most powerful left hands in the world. He’s dropped the jaws of fans several times with brutal knockouts, but he’s also proven capable of submitting his opponents. Gouwenberg is also a devastating striker who owns a victory over TKO Heavyweight Champion, Icho Larenas. Gouwenberg will make his debut at Light Heavyweight in this fight and he intends on reeking havoc in this division for many years to come! This is just one of the many entertaining stand-up battles at TKO 27 which will most likely end in spectacular fashion!

Rising Featherweight superstar, DAMACIO PAGE (7-1-0) returns to TKO to rematch the very popular, STEPHANE VIGNEAULT (9-4-0). Page has loved his TKO experiences thus far, winning both times in very impressive fashion. At TKO 24, Vigneault was on the wrong end of Page’s leaping overhand right and is now seeking revenge! Vigneault feels that he’s a better all around fighter. Regardless, Page feels that Vigneault cannot handle his explosive power and consequently, he expects history to repeat itself. This is a very important fight in TKO’s Featherweight Division between two of its best young stars.

STEPHANE DUBE (2-1-0) will try to make it three jaw-dropping, knockouts in a row, when he steps in the ring with the exceptional striker, JAMES MARTINEZ (4-6-0). Dube has been the talk of the town since TKO 25, when he scored one of the nastiest knockouts ever witnessed in MMA! Ironically, this recent knockout may only be outdone by his previous spinning back-kick knockout of Kajon Johnson at TKO 15. Meanwhile, fans in Montreal are still talking about Martinez’ astounding performance against former Lightweight Champion, Donald Ouimet back at TKO 20. Martinez has exceptional Muay Thai skills of his own which guarantees the fans an unbelievably exciting fight! This has show stealer written all over it!

Former Lightweight Champion, DONALD OUIMET (10-5-0) will meet the always tough, TYLER JACKSON (6-3-0). Ouimet is making his much anticipated return to TKO after losing his Championship to Sam Stout at TKO 23. Ouimet has rededicated himself to the sport and wants to climb his way back to the top! Jackson, instead, wants to give him a rude welcoming back. Both men are proven boxers that have won most of their fights with their superior striking skills and unrelenting will. With both fighters having a similar hardnosed style of fighting, it may just come down to who wants it more!

STEVE CLAVEAU (3-5-0) is looking to continue his roll when he squares off against JOHN FRASER (3-2-0). Claveau is one of the most popular and charismatic fighters in Quebec. He is the leader of Team Legion and he trains with some of the best fighters in the world including: Georges St-Pierre, Patrick Cote, Jonathan Goulet, Icho Larenas, Martin Desilets and many more. Claveau has looked very impressive in his last two fights, winning both by quick first round submissions. Fraser is not someone to be outdone in the charisma department as he traditionally walks in sporting his trademark Scottish kilt. Fraser is a scrappy fighter who’s been able to achieve victory by submissions as well as by striking. Still, listen for the loud roars from the Claveau supporters as he tries to make it three in a row!

DAVE PARISEAU (3-2-1) is ready for a war as he’s set to face JACOB MacDONALAD (2-0-0). This is a battle between two eager youngsters looking to make a name for themselves in TKO. Both fighters have managed to deliver very exciting performances in all of their TKO appearances to date. MacDonald wants to keep his unblemished record while Pariseau wants to prove that he’s getting better with each fight. Neither man is afraid to stand and trade heavy blows with their opponent, nor does either fighter feel uncomfortable on the ground. This fight is set to start the night off right!

THIERRY QUENNEVILLE (9-5-0) will also return to action against an opponent yet to be determined. Quenneville is a very popular, local, fighter who trains with Fabio Holanda at Brazilian Top Team – Canada. He has consistently shown exceptional submission skills and superior conditioning in all of his TKO fights. This will be another important step in his unyielding quest to become champion one day.
