UFC president Dana White has said that Renan Barão is one of the top two, if not the number one, pound-for-pound fighter in the world.

In a twist of fate, Team Alpha Male bantamweight fighter TJ Dillashaw now finds himself in the enviable position of challenging Barão for the UFC 135-pound championship.

Never one to shy away from a challenge, Dillashaw is looking forward to upsetting the apple card and beating one of the best fighters on the planet at UFC 173 on May 24.

That must be some tasty Koolaide they serve up at Team Alpha Male.

    This kid is delusional .

      What are guys talking about?
Have you actually watched the interview?

The guy is humble and polite. So he has confidence in his abilities, what did you expect from him? To go to the title fight with thoughts of losing?

  • Aimed With “V”

Dillashaw’s striking has improved tremendously with Ludwig’s help, I’ll give him that.

However, in the Assuncao fight, we saw how the effective counter-striker gave him some serious trouble, and managed to take the second round of the fight (1st and 3rd still belonged to TJ).
Unfortunately for Dillashaw, Barao is an effective counter-striker as well, and even more.
He should do what Assuncao was able to do, and I see TJ falling from Renan’s strikes in the second or third.

after it is over, him and fabar will be sitting on bench; trying to wonder what went wrong! this barao is a class above everyone else.

I like him, I would love to see him actually beat Barao…but Renan is just on another level…I just hope TJ won’t get hurt too much

wow … this kid really believes that?

    • Aimed With “V”

      Wow…you really watched the video?

  • Shartnado2, the Sloppy One

This has to be the worse miss-match for a title fight ever

    • Aimed With “V”

Next in line should’ve been Assuncao.
Would you call it the worst mismatch for the title as well?
Because him and TJ had a very close fight…

      • Lucas Freire

And Hendricks had a close fight against Koscheck. What’s your point? Different fighters means different fights.

They had a close fight, which TJ lost.

        • Aimed With “V”

What’s the connection between your comment and what I’ve written?

          • Lucas Freire

The connection is that MMA math doesn’t work.
Koscheck and Hendricks fought to a close split decision but while Koscheck was dominated by GSP, Hendricks suffered a debatable loss.

Wouldn’t you call it a mismatch if Hendricks got injured and Koscheck replaced him for the title shot?
People wouldn’t call Assuncao a mismatch because he deserves the shot, even though he’d still be the underdog.

          • Aimed With “V”

Hendricks didn’t deserve the title shot straight after the fight with Koscheck, and rightfully so – it was clear that he improved VERY MUCH since Kos fight.
The same guy who got put on his back by Kos in the third round and outstruck him minimally in other two wouldn’t pose any threat to St. Pierre.

Now Dillashaw, despite the judges decision, outstruck Assuncao in the first and third round of the fight, and only in the second one some counter-strikes from Raphael found their target.
These counter-strikers from Assuncao is everything that he can offer to Barao, and I doubt that he can do anything with it.

You may consider Assuncao “deserving” and Dillashaw “mismatch”, just because you saw their records on Wikipedia and decided that a winner is a winner.
News Flash: with this approach, you will really not understand anything in MMA.
I suggest watching fights, which you clearly don’t do much.

i’d rather hear him say that than “i can’t wait to taste bitter defeat and utter embarrassment.”
