On Tuesday, the Ultimate Fighting Championship announced the addition of three more fights to the upcoming card set to take place on October 19 in Birmingham, England. The fights added include a light heavyweight clash between Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou and Brazilian fighter Luis Cane, Dan Hardy against Akihiro Gono at 170 pounds, and a battle between heavyweights Shane Carwin and Neil Wain.

Since leaving Pride in 2007, judo superstar Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou has continued to work his way towards the top of the 205-pound weight class. His mission was derailed slightly when he was defeated in his Octagon debut by Lyoto Machida, but he quickly rebounded with an impressive win over Kazuhiro Nakamura at UFC 84.

Now Sokoudjou faces Luis Cane, who lost by disqualification in his inaugural appearance for the UFC, but also came back strong defeating Jason Lambert in devastating fashion at UFC 85 in June.

Highly touted British prospect Dan Hardy will make his first appearance inside the Octagon at UFC 89 taking on Japanese fighter Akihiro Gono, in what is expected to be a very exciting fight between two welterweight contenders.

Hardy has been training in Los Angeles under the master of the rubber guard, Eddie Bravo, and will look for an impressive showing for his first time in the UFC. Gono, who has been nursing an injured hand, will return in October for the first time since his debut fight for the promotion in November 2007 that saw him defeat Tamden McCrory by armbar.

The final fight announced on Tuesday was a heavyweight contest between two undefeated prospects, pitting Shane Carwin against Neil Wain.

Carwin looked very strong in his debut appearance for the UFC, knocking out Christian Wellisch. This will be the first time fans will see Neil Wain in the Octagon. He currently sports an undefeated record of 4-0, never having a fight make it out of the first round in his career.
