Once again a UFC fighter, Thiago Silva on Sunday posted a video message to fans, thanking them for their support, and celebrating his return to the Octagon.

Silva had been facing two counts of aggravated assault with a firearm, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and resisting arrest without violence. The charges stemmed from a February incident that ended with him barricading himself in his home, before police, including a SWAT team, showed up and eventually arrested him.

The incident involved Silva’s estranged wife and her then-boyfriend, martial arts gym owner Pablo Popovitch. Silva reportedly showed up at Popovitch’s school armed with a gun, making threats for Popovitch to come out or he would go inside the school and open fire. Silva left without harming anyone at the site, and police were called.

The charges against Silva were dropped last Thursday, however, with the Broward County Attorney’s Office telling TMZ Sports, “All charges against Thiago Silva were dropped. The victim was uncooperative, and investigators determined that she has likely moved out of the country.”

The following day, Silva’s team, The Blackzilians, announced that he had re-signed with the UFC, and company president Dana White confirmed it.

“He went through the legal process and came out of it untainted,” White said. “He deserves to be able to make a living again. He’s back under contract.”

Silva last fought at UFC Fight Night: Maia vs. Shields in October of 2013, when he won a unanimous decision over Matt Hamill. He had been scheduled to fight for a promotion called Fight Time in August, but the bout was scrapped after Silva suffered a knee injury.

Silva is targeting a return to the Octagon by January of 2015.

Posting a video where you look hammered…not a good look.

If he was, so what. You’d celebrate too if multiple felony charges were dropped against you after 8 months of living on the edge, your future uncertain. Nothing wrong with a couple celebratory drinks. Good for him, can’t wait to see him fight again.

        I agree with brother!!

        • Juniorbra

          With you!!

      • Wifebeaterer

Can’t wait to see him get destroyed by a top fighter or beat a can to a pulp.

Where would you put this guy in the 205 division?

        • Jason Priest

Well since the only time he was ever knocked out was by Machida 5 years ago, I’m not sure what you mean by “destroyed” lolz. Technically he’s on a 3 fight win streak but the Nedkov triangle submission win was overturned cause he pissed hot for POT haha. He went the distance with Gus and Rashad and is got to be considered top 10, if not 11 or 12. Just my opinion 🙂

    • Gary Fredericks

Even worse getting away with what he did.

      • Jason Priest

How do you know with 100% certainty what “he did” or was accused “of doing” was fabricated by his Ex? Were you there? Please tell us us how you know?

        • Gary Fredericks

Pablo Papovic. You know, the OTHER victim in this? If you would get Silva’s nuts far enough from your face to see past them, things would be a lot clearer for you Jason.

          • Jason Priest

Haha, You mean the guy dating his ex-girlfriend? Yeah, he would never lie or exaggerate to protect his new girlfriend, that would be crazy lolz. Gimme a break. I love how you internet detectives & police officers swear up and down you know what happened from just reading about it on the internet lmao. All charges were dropped. That’s it. Over. Go judge someone else haha.

          • Gary Fredericks

Hey, is that a Ray Rice jersey you’re wearing Jay??? LOL

          • Jason Priest

Nope. Just a guy who doesn’t know what really happened, so I don’t judge. You keep passing judgment on people from the safety of your couch, the internet has answers for everything Mr. LOLOLOLOL .

          • Gary Fredericks

Who’s to say I didn’t speak with someone involved in the situation??? You are passing judgement as well my friend…just yours are pulled from you bottom and not grounded in anything of substance.
