TUF 18 Finale Medical Suspensions: Corassani, Dober and Benoit Could Be Out Six Months

TUF 18 Finale-red-478x270Nate Diaz defeated Gray Maynard by technical knockout in The Ultimate Fighter 18 Finale main event on Nov. 30 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, while Julianna Pena became the first female winner in Ultimate Fighter history in the co-main event by defeating Jessica Rakoczy with one second remaining in the opening round. Chris Holdsworth submitted Davey Grant to earn The Ultimate Fighter winner status on the men’s side.

The main event was one-sided and resulted in a 30-day suspension for Maynard. The longest medical suspensions, however, came from the preliminary card. Akira Corassani, Drew Dober, and Ryan Benoit face potential six-month layoffs.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission released The Ultimate Fighter 18 Finale medical suspensions to MMAWeekly.com on Monday.

The Ultimate Fighter 18 Finale Medical Suspensions

Gray Maynard is suspended until Jan. 30, 2014, with no contact prior to Jan. 15, 2014.

Jessica Rakoczy is suspended until Jan. 15, 2014, with no contact prior to Dec. 31.

Julianna Pena must have her right thumb x-rayed. If positive, she must be cleared by an orthopedic doctor.

David Grant is suspended until Jan. 15, 2014, with no contact prior to Dec. 31.

Peggy Morgan is suspended until Jan. 15, 2014, with no contact prior to Dec. 31

Akira Corassani is suspended until May 30, 2014, unless he has a nasal fracture cleared by a doctor. He is suspended until at least Jan. 30, 2014, with no contact until Jan. 15, 2014.

Drew Dober is suspended until May 30, 2014, and must have right orbital fractures cleared by a doctor. He is suspended at a minimum until Jan. 30, 2014, with no contact until Jan. 15.

Ryan Benoit must have left hand x-rayed. If positive, he must be cleared by a doctor or he is suspended until May 30, 2014. If there are no fractures, he is suspended until Dec. 31 with no contact until Dec. 22.
