Miesha TateThe Ultimate Fighting Championship is headed to the Amway Center in Orlando, Fla., for the first time with UFC on Fox 11 on April 19.

UFC officials announced the event on Monday, also revealing two of the card’s fights.

Heavyweight contenders Fabricio Werdum and Travis Browne will meet with the winner likely securing a heavyweight title shot. Plus, women’s bantamweight fighters Miesha Tate and Liz Carmouche will also fight in Florida.

Werdum recently revealed that he expected to fight Browne in a five-round main event bout, but thought it might be in the latter half of March. Their fight is instead moved to the April 19 card in Orlando, although UFC officials couldn’t yet confirm a main event for UFC on Fox 11.

Werdum (17-5-1) had been next in line for a shot at current UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez, but with the champ out for the next several months due to a shoulder injury, the Brazilian instead opted to get back in the Octagon to fight Browne. Werdum will have been out of action for nearly a year by the time the April date rolls around, having last fought when he submitted Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira last June.

Browne (16-1-1) enters the fight coming off of back-to-back-to-back Knockout of the Night performances, defeating Gabriel Gonzaga, Alistair Overeem, and Josh Barnett in consecutive bouts.

Having recently coached on The Ultimate Fighter and then lost a rematch with Ronda Rousey, Tate (13-5) needs a victory in a bad way. Having lost her UFC debut to Cat Zingano in April of 2013, Tate has yet to score a victory in the Octagon and has lost three of her four most recent bouts.

Carmouche (9-4) also lost to Rousey in the Octagon. That was the first women’s fight ever under the UFC banner. She bounced back with a victory over Jessica Andrade a few months later, but stumbled to a unanimous decision loss to Alexis Davis at the UFC Fight for the Troops event in November.

Tickets for the event are expected to go on sale Feb. 14. More details will be available in coming weeks on MMAWeekly.com.

Werdum is going to destroyed by Browne. Same as Cain would do to him. Browne/Cain is going to be a great fight!

    • No, it’s not going to be a great fight.

Cain can dominate anyone in his weight currently.

      • Kenny Powers

I agree that Cain’s the man rite now, but he’s been KO’d before, and we’ve seen what happens when u try to shoot on Browne. It would be an interesting fight.

        • brad king

premature stoppage is what it was. Cain sure punished jds for that referee mistake

  • That’s hella fight

That is awesome thanks ufc sounds like the ufc on fox is looking like one of the best ufc on fox events yet… Can’t wait for either fight wander wat else they put on the card

  • tipsyhippy

bout time they come to orlando! cant wait!

  • robc

browne dos santos would be a great fight… werdum is too one dimensional. Even with his slightly improved standup, he is going to get owned by Browne on the feet. Browne has demonstrated excellent tdd (and werdum’s takedowns are nothing special) so it is going to be ugly for werdum. Werdum and dos santos are tailor made for a great standup battle. Cain destroys everyone. He has beaten Junior standing (twice), his wrestling is one of the best in the UFC. Werdum has no chance against him. There is no one left at heavyweight to beat Cain currently.

    • Wow, you’re actually right. But if Werdum were to take Browne down, then it’d be Werdum’s game.

      • Maddawgmar

That’s a big if. Cuz Browne has great takedown defense. Just stay away from the double leg.

    • Torjus

Dont forget that werdum beat fedor…. And fedor was pretty well rounded, and I would but sambo as high as wrestling anyday… Werdum has alot of experinece, never count him out…

Good for Tate to be back in action so quickly. She was so crushed when she lost to Ronda. I hope that loss doesnt effect her motivation. Carmouche is a tough competitor.

Brown has much more impressive victories than Werdum. He can probably pose more threat for Cain than Werdum, but either way i dont see both of them beating the Champ.

  • Jimmy Rebel

Carmouche will beat Tate in just as devastating of fashion as Rousey did.
Browne will beat Werdum to a decision, if he doesn’t get submitted.

    • horace

Big Nose Tate will beat little Liz easily.

      • brad king

bignose or not she is a real hottie.

  • John Doe

Tate is going to get her butt kicked…again.

  • Torjus

Tate have this….Carmouche is a ahtlete but not a proper fighter…her technique is crap… Tate put the fight in Rowdy’s face last time they fought, and with a little better judo-defence she would have won…

  • Second round submission

Was reading these post have u guys not seen the last few werdum fights the guys stand up has looked alot better.in everyone jumping brown band wagon. Werdum beat fedor, nog n level of fighter he faced are way better than brown. Don’t sleep on werdum he earn the #1 contender spot… If brown beats him I’d b surprised n with out doubt should be #1 contender

    • deepgrim

i think verdum stand up has looked better. think this is the right fight, both need this fight to prove they are worthy of the title shot. should be a good one. think its anyones fight

  • horace

Tate should be able to beat the monkey girl Liz. Big Nose tate is very average but Monk is too short.

  • horace

Tate’s big nose is the stuff of legend.

    • R.Morales

Can’t expect much intelligence coming from someone with the name Horace.

  • William Olsen

Come on Tate, you can do it!
