Tachi Palace Fights has released its Aug. 5 fight card, capping the event off with the return of former Bellator featherweight champion Joe Soto.
Soto (9-1) makes his way back to the cage after nearly a year out of the game. He suffered a detached retina in a loss to Joe Warren, who took Soto’s Bellator featherweight belt with the victory. Expected to be out of fighting for more than a year, the Aug. 5 fight at TPF 10 marks an early return.
Soto won’t get a warm-up when he comes back either. He’s slotted to take on Eddie Yagin (13-4-1) for the vacant Tachi Palace Fights featherweight strap. Soto replaces former champ Isaac DeJesus, who was stripped of the belt for missing weight prior to his last fight and then suspended by the California State Athletic Commission for testing positive for marijuana.
Soto vs. Yagin is one of three title fights on the TPF 10 fight card. Flyweight champion Darrell Montague puts his belt and 9-1 record on the line against a surging Ian McCall (10-2). UFC veteran David “The Crow” Loiseau makes his second consecutive start for the promotion, defending his middleweight title against submission wizard Giza Santana. Santana is 15-1, his only loss coming by way of split decision, and he has tapped 13 of his 15 victims.
It’s another strong card for the Northern California fight promotion, also touting a flyweight feature fight between Jussier da Silva, considered one of the top 125-pounders in the world, and Mamoru Yamaguchi, as well as the return of Andre Galvao and former Tachi flyweight champion Ulysses Gomez.
