McCall was on a fast track to meet Tachi Palace flyweight champion Darrell Montague, but an injury sidelined the title fight, but now it has to be next on the docket for the California based promotion.
McCall dismantled the young undefeated prospect, and came close to finishing on a couple of occasions. The former WEC bantamweight looked strong and was relentless now that he’s at his natural weight of 125 pounds. He will be a force to be reckoned with for the champion or anyone else in the flyweight division.
Isaac DeJesus missed weight for his bout against Russ Miura, but made up for it the best way he could as he knocked out his opponent with a nasty counter right hand midway through the first round.
DeJesus looked strong throughout the entire fight, albeit a short time. As Miura stepped forward, getting aggressive, it was DeJesus who unloaded a big right hand that clocked his opponent in the jaw, dropping him to the mat for the finish.
In a battle of two former UFC lightweights, Fabricio Camoes got the best of former “Ultimate Fighter” winner Efrain Escudero by unanimous decision. Camoes controlled the fight in the early going both on the feet and on the ground.
Escudero battled back in the third round, going for broke as he caught Camoes with a good shot that staggered the Brazilian, but he couldn’t capitalize enough for the finish. While the fight was close, Camoes seemed to do enough in rounds one and two to get the win on the judges’ scorecards.
Former UFC middleweight Gerald Harris picked up a fairly uninspired win over Anthony Ruiz in their bout. Harris worked tirelessly to get takedowns on Ruiz, but his opponent blocked his efforts for the better part of the fight.
Harris kept pushing forward, however, and even though a great part of the fight took place in the clinch, it was the former wrestler from Cleveland State that controlled the pace of the fight. The crowd in Lemoore seemed none too happy when the fight was over, but Harris did enough to get the nod from the judges.
