Takeya Mizugaki 470x260A match-up between top ten ranked bantamweights T.J. Dillashaw and Takeya Mizugaki has been added to the UFC 173 fight card. UFC officials announced the addition on Wednesday.

Dillashaw (9-2) made his way to the UFC through The Ultimate Fighter reality show. He appeared on the fourteenth season of the series and advanced to the finals, but was defeated by John Dodson via technical knockout.

After the loss to Dodson, Dillashaw strung together a four-fight winning streak before losing a controversial split decision to Raphael Assuncao on Oct. 9, 2013. The Team Alpha Male fighter is coming off a unanimous decision win over Mike Easton in his last outing at UFC Fight Night 35 on Jan. 15.

Mizugaki (19-7-2) is currently riding a four-fight winning streak. He defeated Nam Phan by unanimous decision in his last outing at UFC Fight Night 33 on Dec. 7, 2013.

The winner of this fight will put himself in title contention.

UFC 173 Takes place on March 24 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Middleweight champion Chris Weidman puts his title on the line for the second time when he faces former light heavyweight champion Vitor Befort in the main event.

give dillashaw a title fight, wtf is this? dillashaw in my opinion is about the only one i could possibly see beating renan in that division unless somebody like a frankie edgar type fighter decided to drop.

Dillashaw became a very good striker, but I don’t see him outstriking Barao – he had some problems with Assuncao’s counter strikes.
Now Assuncao is a very underrated counter-striker, but Barao is on another level overall, so I think he can catch TJ.

As of TJ’s wrestling game – well, I doubt it’s that better than Faber’s.

assuncao probably gets next shot so this will most likely serve as a title eliminator. mizugaki is on a nice streak, it’s not like this is a mismatch in the rankings.
