Just a week after Stefan Struve was rewarded with a new four fight deal with the UFC, he’s now rewarded with a new fight. The 6’11” Dutchman will return at UFC 124 in Montreal to face upstart heavyweight Sean McCorkle on the Canadian card.
The fight was confirmed to MMAWeekly.com by sources close to the fight on Tuesday. The bout was originally reported by MMAJunkie.com.
At only 22-years of age, Stefan Struve (20-4) has a wealth of experience, and has shown that skill level while going 4-2 during his time with the UFC.
Battling back from a tough first round in his last fight, Struve got a knockout win over Christian Morecraft at UFC 117 in August, and now looks to set his sights on Montreal, and a fight with Sean McCorkle.
An impressive undefeated record made Sean McCorkle (10-0); a prospect, but his celebrity hit new heights with his posting and discussion with fans on the popular Underground forum. McCorkle took advantage of the opportunity to debut in the UFC last month in his home state of Indiana, and submitted former Pride fighter Mark Hunt in the first round to get his first ever victory in the Octagon.
He’ll have a tall test, literally and figuratively, in his next fight as he faces a very experienced and tough match-up with Stefan Struve.
UFC 124 is set to go down in Montreal with hometown boy Georges St. Pierre defending his UFC welterweight title against Josh Koscheck in the main event. The fight with Struve and McCorkle will likely end up as part of the untelevised preliminary bouts on the card.
