Clay Guida has agreed to step in at the last minute and take on Shooto 2004 Welterweight Rookie Champion Yusuke Endo on Shooto’s July 21st card.
Endo was left without an opponent when his original opponent, George Sotiropolous, was forced to withdraw from the fight due to illness.
Guida, who is coming off a loss to Gilbert Melendez at the most recent Strikeforce show, will step in as a last-minute replacement and will make his Japanese MMA debut. Guida is currently ranked number eight in the Shooto Americas Welterweight rankings and will be looking to crack into the top ten of the Shooto World rankings with a win over Endo, while Endo will be looking to climb the rankings and get some recognition with a win over Guida.
In the show’s main event, which will be for the Shooto Featherweight Title, longtime number one contender Akitoshi Hokazono takes on Kenji Osawa, who is coming off an impressive win over Shooto fan favorite Naoya Uematsu.
Also on the card, American Cole Miller makes his Shooto debut against Shooto Lightweight Champion “Lion” Takeshi Inoue, and former Shooto Featherweight Champion Ryota Matsune makes his return to Shooto after a long injury layoff to take on Takeya Mizugaki.
