RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Strikeforce light heavyweight Lorenz Larkin trains near where he grew up in the Southern California’s Inland Empire. Being so close to home, family remains a big part of his life and it shows in his training.

Larkin’s mother tells she was a boxer and originally got her son into boxing years ago. Looks as though that paid off because Larkin’s hands are his best attribute, according to the 25-year-old fighter.

In this exclusive interview, Larkin and his mom talk about the 205-pound fighter’s best traits and give their take on what to expect in his fight with “King Mo” Lawal on Jan. 7.

Lorenz strikes with incredible technique. This is a guy who I really believe showcases true mixed martial arts.

I’ve seen couple of this guys fights. I like to see him fight, he definately has some skills and heart.
But, it may just be me, or his opponents, I dunno, he seems a bit, awkward? with his composure as he strikes. I’m having difficulty putting a word to it. He doesn’t seem as fluid as most UFC guys look in their striking.
He’s definatley got power and skills and shouldn’t be underestimated.

Definitely Fitefan I know he’s been trying to work more on the ground game, and if you read his profile on his favorite striking move is the “mantis strike”, which I assume comes from praying mantis, and grappling move the gogoplata which is judo. Very interesting!
