Round 1: Both ladies come out firing, put Kedzie lands the first significant strike, a head kick that leaves Tate wobbly. Tate is firing back, but it’s clear early on tat Kedzie has the power, landing an uppercut and following with a solid body kick. Tate lands a right hook, but eats a right body hook, then rushes Kedzie to the fence. Kedzie lands a knee to the midsection before reversing position on the fence, landing a hard elbow to the head then separating. Tate shoots a takedown, but Kedzie stuffs it, returning the fight to the feet. Kedzie rocks Tate again with a solid punch combination, Kedzie looking much, much stronger than Tate, definitely showing superior striking ability and power thus far. Tate shoots and gets stuffed again, eating some hard punches to the ribs. Standing and trading again, Tate lands an overhand right, but Kedzie answers with a knee to the midsection, clinches and then presses Tate to the fence. They separate, Tate shooting again, but once again has it stuffed. Tate moves in late in the round, but gets dropped with a side kick to the stomach. Tate pulls her down and nearly secured a triangle in an amazing transition on the mat by Tate, but she can’t secure anything before the horn. MMAWeekly.com scores round one 10-9 for Kedzie.
Round 2: Tate trying to immediately closing the distance, but Kedzie continues to rock her with an onslaught of punches. They clinch, Kedzie pressing Tate to the fence, unleashing a couple hard knees from the Thai clinch. They scramble to the mat, Kedzie locking on a triangle hold before transitioning to an omo plata attempt. Tate fights her way out and scrambles to Kedzie’s back, locking on the figure-four body lock, diving in for the rear naked choke. Kedzie gets to her back, trying to defend. Tate is in the full mount, but Kedzie escapes out from underneath, nearly gets caught in another choke, and scrambles to her feat. Tate has Kedzie pressed to the fence, trying for another takedown. Tate eventually gets the takedown, but Kedzie’s defends anything further until the horn. MMAWeekly.com scores round two 10-9 for Tate.
Round 3: Tate comes out firing, landing a straight right, but Kedzie answers with a low kick to her lead leg that drops Tate briefly to the mat. Kedzie stuffs another takedown. Kedzie lands another low kick then follows with a kick to the face that lands flush, dropping Tate to the mat. Kedzie follows into her guard, trying to unleash her ground and pound, but Tate goes for an armbar. It’s a strong attempt. She’s got Kedzie’s arm wrapped up, but can’t get it locked out. Kedzie is staying in tight, Tate not giving up the arm. Tate gets the arm extended, but Kedzie is defending, turning into it, but Tate remains patient and locks it out further, rolling and extending her hips, forcing Kedzie to tap.
