Jorge Masvidal picked K.J. Noons apart at Strikeforce: Overeem vs. Werdum on Saturday night in Dallas. Now he’s hoping that he’s done enough to get a welcome Father’s Day present, a shot at Strikeforce lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez.

Masvidal has now won back-to-back fights for Strikeforce, defeating two of the promotion’s most popular 155-pounders, Billy Evangelista and K.J. Noons.

After the fight, Masvidal spoke with Showtime Sports reporter Heidi Androl about the fight and if he thinks he’s up next for Melendez.

cant wait for that fight. he whoop kj badly, very surprised by that. If he fights that way against el nino, gilberts got his hands full. one thing i did notice was that he gassed pretty hard at the end and im not sure if can go 5 rounds. He may also not get the shot sadly because of his personality. i could barely understand what he was saying and hes also one of the least marketable guys ive seen fight at a high level just behind gray Maynard. these got have to understand that being a little bit of a showman gets you place(no need that weird barnett thing though). i think if gilbert can get passed this kid with ease he breaks into top five for light wieghts in the world(dont care what mma weekly rankings say)
