Round 1: Wilcox comes out firing, missing with a head kick, and a flying knee. They trade some solid punches, but Wilcox catches a kick from JZ and pushes him to the mat. JZ is quickly back on his feet and they’re swinging away again. Each is getting his shots in, but Wilcox is landing more frequently. Wilcox shoots about three minutes into the round, but JZ sprawls it out. Three or four punch combo from Wilcox gets JZ backing up. Wilcox is starting to take over as the round closes, landing a right cross and a kick to the body. MMAWeekly.com scores round one 10-9 for Wilcox.
Round 2: JZ opens with a solid front kick to the midsection. Wilcox comes back strong with a punch combination, but looks like he took a finger to the eye on the way in. Timeout from the ref, who brings the doctor in to check Wilcox’s right eye. Wilcox can’t satisfy the medical check and the doctor waves the fight off due to an accidental finger to the eye.
