In the latest of talent acquisitions for the rapidly growing Strikeforce roster, the promotion on Wednesday announced that middleweight Ronaldo “Jacare” De Souza has signed a multi-fight deal with the promotion.

Jacare, one of the most decorated grapplers in the sport today, will make his debut sometime in the fall against an unnamed opponent, according to the promotion.

It appears a fall Strikeforce debut will conflict with Jacare’s obligation to the end of a heated trilogy with Jason “Mayhem” Miller at Dream 11. Miller last tangled with the Brazilian at Dream 9 in May, where an illegal kick by Miller forced a no contest stoppage. The two have sparred in the press since.

Strikeforce Director of Communications Mike Afromowitz did not specify whether Jacare’s Dream bout would be cancelled.

According to manager Ed Soares, Paulo Filho may step into a middleweight title shot against Miller, though he said nothing was confirmed.

“I am very excited that I will have the opportunity to fight in Strikeforce amongst many of the world’s best middleweight fighters,” said the 29-year-old De Souza. “Strikeforce has an extremely deep roster of top middleweight fighters. I am looking forward to the challenge and to taking my career to the next level.”
