When Melvin Guillard joined Sherdog.com’s “The Savage Dog Show,” he continued the verbal warfare that has been taking place between himself and his next opponent, Joe Stevenson, when he accused the TUF Season 2 winner of taking HGH (Human Growth Hormone) to enhance his in-cage abilities.

Guillard said, “All these fighters right now – including Stevenson and a couple of other fighters that I know of – they’re all using growth hormones…they’re altering their game by using anabolic s—, you know, they just can’t get caught with it because it’s growth.”

Stevenson responded to Guillard’s accusations man-to-man while both were on MMAWeekly’s SoundOff Radio show by saying, “I hate it when people say stuff like that, but I put rumors like that out on the Internet, too… like my knee was hurt, like Josh’s [Burkman] knee was hurt, you know, and things just get carried away.”

Joe continued, “My dad actually died of bone marrow cancer and one of the major side effects of that drug [HGH] is to cause cancer, from what I understand. I’m deathly afraid of anything like that.”

For now, this accusation can be piled into the pre-fight gossip category and put aside for another day.

“Rumors get out there and they spread quicker than wildfire,” Stevenson said.
