Stefan StruveFor a 24-year-old, the one thing that Stefan Struve doesn’t lack heading into his UFC 146 bout against Lavar Johnson on Saturday night is confidence. He’s got it in spades.

“I don’t think he’s got anything for me in this fight if I fight the way I can fight,” Struve said on Wednesday.

“He punches hard, but I think I punch just as hard as him. He’s gonna have to deal with my kicks and after he takes a couple of those… he might even want to take this fight to the ground.”

And that would be playing right into the youngster’s hands, since he has won 15 of his 23 victories by submission.

Check out what else Stefan Struve had to say at Wednesday’s UFC 146 open workouts in Las Vegas…

  • I like Struve by submission in this fight, but Johnson has the power to send him crumpling to the mat like a baby giraffe being taken out by a pack of hungry lions. Better not look past his opponent.

I think you’re right. I would call Struve by submission too. Johnson is just the dangerous type of opponent that a skilled young fighter like Struve could end up getting a lesson on overlooking your opponent from.

Struve better just take him down, or else he is getting knocked out if he tries to bang with Lavar on the feet.

If Johnson can avoid the takedown, he will finish him. Stefan doesn’t like getting hit, and Lavar hits hard!

I think Struve can handle this fight wherever it goes. He gets bigger and bigger every fight and pretty soon he’s gonna be a monster.
