The ROF 20: ELITE show is coming up this Saturday in Colorado:
A total of three RING OF FIRE titles will be on the line as fighters from all over the country converge on the DC Event Center in Castle Rock, CO. In the main event Nebraska wrestler Luke LIL HULK Caudillo will face BJJ stylist Alvin KID Robinson for the ROF Light Weight Championship. Both fighters have been on a roll in ROF competition this year. Caudillo holds the franchise YOUNG GUN championship belt and was successful in defending it twice in 2005. KID Robinson burst on the professional fighting scene with a submission win over Eric Payne in February. He then improved to 3-0 by submitting his next two opponents as well. The build of for this fight in the local scene has been tremendous, and both fighters will have strong a fan base in attendance.
The ROF Welterweight Championship will be on the line as fan favorite Jay Jack takes on New Mexico stand out Thomas Schulte. Schulte is a grappler who’s ground game mixes wrestling with BJJ. The former KING OF THE CAGE champion is 12-4 in MMA, with all of his wins coming via submission. Jay Jack is also 12-4, with all but 1 of his wins coming by submission. The fighters have very similar styles, and have actually faced each other once before. The pair had a grappling match in Las Vegas, with Schulte earning a decision on points This could be one of the most even match ups ever seen on a ROF card.
Pete Spratt has fought on some of the top promotions in both Kick Boxing and MMA. The Dallas fighter has been seen on UFC, Shoot Boxing Japan, STRIKE FORCE, A-1 Australia, and recently on Chuck Norris’s World Combat League. The ever confident Condit has always been able to sway the ROF crowd with his aggressiveness and desire to win. The two will meet each other in a K-1 Rules Super Fight. Spratt will have the edge in experience under these rules, as Condit is primarily a MMA fighter. Condit has shown his stand up skills before by beating Cruz Chacon and TUF season 2 star Marcus Davis. Both matches were on ROF cards under K-1 rules, and Condit won both by TKO.
The ROF Women’s Light Weight belt will be up for grabs as Amanda Buckner steps in the ring with South Dakota’s Shayna Baszler. Current champion Buckner is on a 3 fight win streak that started with Yuki Kondo in Japan. Baszler just won gold at Grapplers Quest in Las Vegas and sports a 4-2 MMA record. It will be BJJ vs. BJJ in the most competitive women’s match in the promotion’s history.
Two of the top fighters from the 2005 K-1 Open try Outs will meet at ROF 20. Colorado’s Donald COWBOY Cerrone, and New York’s Lamont Forin wowed the judges and both were picked as finalists. When the two met at the call back the next morning, the whole room of fighters, judges, and media were blown away by the tenacity shown.
